Security First Federal Credit Union Honored with the 2024 Economic Vehicle Accessibility Award from Open Lending
Security First Credit Union (SFCU) was recently honored with a 2024 Economic Vehicle Accessibility Award (EVAA) from Open Lending, a leader in automotive lending enablement and risk analytics solutions. This award recognizes Security First Credit Union’s commitment to expanding vehicle ownership opportunities and providing financing solutions for near- and non-prime consumers.
“Open Lending’s mission would be nothing without our credit union partners, who go the extra mile to bring vehicle financing opportunities to people who may otherwise be left without transportation,” said Kevin Filan, senior vice president of marketing at Open Lending. “The past year has brought major challenges for lenders in their efforts to serve the underserved, including high inflation, vehicle prices, and living costs. We are proud to recognize partners like Security First Credit Union for facing these obstacles head-on and taking an innovative approach to help their near- and non-prime customers access the vehicles they need.”
Security First Credit Union has long been dedicated to reinvesting in the Rio Grande Valley, ensuring that financial resources remain within the community to support local families. Through its Drive Your Dream auto loan program, SFCU has provided accessible and affordable vehicle financing to thousands of families with less-than-perfect credit. Since its inception in July 2022, the program has funded 2,059 auto loans totaling $76.1 million that have been put back into the Rio Grande Valley economy.
“Security First Credit Union is the Valley, and we stand firm in the Valley’s community needs. One of the most impactful programs we offer is Drive Your Dream, which has helped countless vulnerable families in the Rio Grande Valley access affordable vehicles,” said Andy Reed, CEO of Security First Credit Union. “For many, this means reliable transportation to get to work, take children to school, and improve their quality of life. This award reaffirms our commitment to financial inclusion and ensuring that more individuals can have the opportunity to achieve financial stability and independence.”
Through strategic partnerships and innovative lending solutions, Security First Credit Union remains steadfast in its mission to serve the community by breaking down financial barriers and making vehicle ownership a reality for more Rio Grande Valley families.
